
The Department of Social Insurance Services announced that as of September 13, 2021, the amendments to the provisions of the Social Insurance Regulations of 2017 (PIO 167/2017) enter into force.
The main amendments to be applied are the following:
- An application for registering a company as an employer is submitted no later than one (1) day before the date on which the company is expected to recruit employees.
- Each employer should notify the Social Security Services for each employee recruitment no later than one (1) day prior to the particular recruitment.
It should be noted that as of September 13, 2021, the notifications of new recruitments with a date of commencement of employment from September 14, 2021, onwards, will be done only electronically through the Information System ERGANI, which can be found via the website https: //ergani.mlsi. gov.cy.
Recruitment of employees with a date of commencement of employment until September 13, 2021, will be allowed through the Online Contribution Payment System (SISNET).
In addition, the Cyprus Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance has appointed Communication Officers in each city for further support of the users. The list of Communication Officers is also posted on the above website.
It is noted that as of September 13, 2021, the issuance and use of the "Certificate of Commencement of Employment" is abolished. Each employer should keep a recruitment register, in which they must record the dates of recruitment and personal information for each employee (serial number, ID card number, date of birth, name, social security number, date of recruitment and date of commencement of employment).
